This practical guide brings together routes and places of interest which are essential to ensure a complete overview of the city and its possibilities, which are yours to enjoy even if your stay is short.
On the street map of Granada, found on the back of this guide, we have drawn two routes: tourist and commercial.
The Alhambra, Albayzín, Centro and Realejo are the four areas of the city recommended for your visit.
La Alhambra and its surroundings are fundamental and you should also stroll around the Moorish neighbourhood of the Albayzín, where you can explore its picturesque streets and squares, accompanied at all times by the silhouette of the Alhambra which dominates the skyline. San Nicolás square and its viewpoint provide you with the chance to contemplate the most beautiful sunset in the world (Bill Clinton, 1997). Take a walk along the Carrera del Darro considered one of the most beautiful streets in Europe. Tour the bustling centre and be sure to visit the Cathedral, a mix of architectural styles.
Granada is also known for its commercial activity which takes place largely in the centre. International brands and small businesses in this area are bustling and lively at any time of day, especially during business hours. Main shopping streets include, Recogidas, Mesones and San Antón. BUS URBANO ALHAMBRA ALBAYZIN & SACROMONTE
ALHAMBRA-ALBAYZÍN-SACROMONTE: Buses run every 7-10 minutes, the first bus is at 7.00am and the last bus at 23:00, every day of the week, including holidays. Route C3 (Alhambra) departs from Plaza Isabel La Católica; C1 (Albayzín) departs from Plaza Nueva; and C2 (Sacromonte) departs from Plaza Nueva.
Granada airport is located 20 km from Granada capital following the A-92. An economical bus is available, departing from Palacio de Congresos (The Conference Centre). Journey time: 40min.
